William L. Meyer

A native of Ferdinand, Indiana, Master Chief Meyer enlisted in the Navy in September 1997. He attended Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes, IL, Aviation Electrician’s Mate (AE) "A" School, and Advanced Avionics and Weapon Integrated Systems Maintenance(AAIWSM) "C" School in Pensacola, FL.

 His sea duty assignments include Van Operational Detachment(VANOPDET) Whidbey Island, USS STENNIS (CVN 74), USS Battan (LHD 5), and Strike Fighter Squadron Eight Seven (VFA-87).

 His shore duty assignments include Fleet Readiness Center West (FRCW) Lemoore, CA and Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic (FRCMA) detachment Patuxent River, MD.

Master Chief Meyer was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in February 2016 and is a graduate of the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy (Green Group, Class 196) as well as the Navy’s Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 162).
 He earned his Associate of Science degree in Applied Sciences from Ivy Tech Community College. He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.

 His decorations include the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 Awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.

 Master Chief Meyer has served as Command Master Chief in USS FORT WORTH (LCS 3), USS WICHITA (LCS 13), USS MOMSEN (DDG 92), and currently serves as the Command Master Chief for Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 117 based at Point Mugu, CA.
