Master Chief Cournede enlisted in the U.S. Navy in May of 2004 in Honolulu, Hi. After the completion of “A” school in Meridian MS, he reported to his 1st duty station in San Diego, CA onboard the USS JARRETT (FFG-33) from Sep 2004-Nov 2009. 

While aboard, he conducted two INSURV’s, two counter drug operation deployments in the 4th fleet AOR and two CARAT deployments to the 7th fleet AOR. He advanced to SH2 and earned his ESWS.

His next tour was NAVSTA Mayport, FL from Nov 2009-Dec 2012. While aboard, he earned his MOVSM, AA from Columbia College, promoted to E6, was a barracks manager, did Active duty and retiree’s taxes at the VITA tax center and volunteered for a 12 month IA to Kuwait. He trained with the U.S. Army for 8 weeks at Fort Bliss, TX and served a 300-day Customs and Border patrol IA tour at camp Ali A Salem Kuwait from May 2010-May 2011.

His second sea tour, was on the USS RODNEY M DAVIS (FFG-60), from Jan 2013-Oct 2014 in Everett, WA. While aboard, he brought the ship from the tail end of a 18 month CNO availability to conducting an INSURV, basic phase, one deployment to the 7th fleet AOR, was designated as an ATTWO and was awarded Senior Sailor of the Year (SSOY).

His third sea tour, was on the USS SHOUP (DDG-86) from Nov 2014-Oct 2016 in Everett, WA. While aboard, he conducted an INSURV, basic phase, RIMPAC, was designated as the Helicopter Control Officer and earned his 2nd MOVSM. 

His second shore tour was in Everett, WA at ATGPNW from Jan 2017-Jan 2020. While aboard, he was a SUPPLY/Aviation/3M trainer and assessor. He earned his MTS, ATS, BA from Columbia College, SSOY, a Master in Public Administration from N.U. and was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. 

His fourth sea tour, was on the USS GERMANTOWN (LSD-42) in Sasebo, JP from Feb 2020-Nov 2022. While aboard, he conducted multiple patrols to China’s door step with the 31st MEU, was HCO, ATTWO, SEWBC, home port change to San Diego, CA, was the Supply DLCPO, Engineering DLCPO, Medical/Dental DLCPO, and was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer.

His third shore tour, was in Honolulu, HI at NAVSUP FLC from Dec 2022-Sep 2023. Where he served as the CSEL to 119 Sailors/Soldiers/Airmen and 399 Civilians and was a Supply board member for the FY 24 AC E7 board.

His third shore tour was in Edwards AFB, CA at VX-9 Det Edwards. From Oct 2023-July 2024. 
Where he served as the CSEL to 172 Sailors through five detachments and was a Supply board member for the FY 25 AC E78 & E9 SEM board. 

Master Chief Cournede, has earned his AA & BA degree from Columbia College, and his Master in Public Administration from National University. His Personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, NCM (2 awards), NAM (9 awards), military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (2 awards), and numerous unit and campaign awards.
