A native of San Diego, California, Commander Jones graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2010, earning a Bachelor of Science in History. CDR Jones reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training in August 2010. He earned his Naval Flight Officer Wings in January 2012 and reported to the VAQ 129 “Vikings” for initial fleet training as an EA-18G Electronic Warfare Officer. He reported to Naval Air Forces Atlantic staff as the EA-18G Future Warfighting Requirements officer in April of 2023. Where he assisted with the management of the Growler Block II upgrades, ALQ-249 Next Generation Jammer, Aircraft Self-Protection Systems, E-6B, E-130J, CNATRA, and Air Wing of the Future requirement acquisition and fielding processes. Dee Dee began his operational flying in March 2013 with the “Shadowhawks” of VAQ 141. While a “Shadowhawk”, he made six forward deployed naval forces patrols in the INDOPACOM area of responsibility aboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) and USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76). Following his initial fleet tour in Japan, CDR Jones reported to Training Squadron 86 at NAS Pensacola, FL for duty and an advanced jet instructor NFO from April 2016 – February 2019 where he served as the Student Control Officer, Strike Stage Standardization Officer, and Strike Stage Manager. CDR Jones returned to the fleet as the Electronic Warfare Officer and Future Planning Officer for Commander, Carrier Air Wing NINE aboard the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) during that ships “Around the world” cruise from San Diego, CA to Norfolk, VA supporting operations and exercises in the 7th, 5th and 6th fleet areas of responsibility. Following deployment CVW-9 incorporated the first U.S. Marine Corps F-35C squadron into the CVW and transitioned to the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) Following his CAG Staff tour, Dee Dee reported as a department head to the “Zappers” of VAQ 130 where he served as the Safety, Operations, and Maintenance Department Heads. While attached to Carrier Air Wing THREE the squadron deployed aboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) and supported Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedoms Sentinel, to include the strategic withdraw from Afghanistan. CDR Jones has accumulated over 1,700 flight hours and 320 carrier arrestments, including combat sorties in support of Operation Final Countdown. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medals, and Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
