Born in Lodi, CA, Master Chief Ogren enlisted in the United States Navy in September 1993. After completing Basic Training in San Diego, CA he attended Aviation Structural Mechanic “A” school in Millington, TN and reported to the VP-40 Fighting Marlins in Moffett Field, CA.
In February 1997 he transitioned to the U.S. Army Reserve serving in the 277
th
Engineer Company headquartered on Camp Bullis, TX where he graduated from the U.S. Army Combat Engineer school in July 1997. In September 1999 he returned to the U.S. Navy and reported to VP-30 in Jacksonville, FL.
His follow-on assignments include VP-1, VFA-122, VP-46, FRC West, and VQ-1. In February 2017, Senior Chief Ogren was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program and in February 2018, he reported as the Command Senior Chief of VX-9 Detachment Edwards AFB. In May 2018, Master Chief Ogren was advanced to Command Master Chief and reported to Patrol Squadron Four in January 2019. While assigned to VP-4, he deployed to the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Fleet AORs. Master Chief Ogren reported to Patrol Squadron One in August of 2021, deploying to the 5
th
and 6
th
fleet AORs. Master Chief Ogren returned to VP-4 in January 2024.
Master Chief Ogren is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 201 and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course Class 181. His personal awards include The Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), The U.S. Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), U.S. Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards), National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and numerous other unit and personal citations.
