Commander Craig P. Nesgood

Commander Nesgood joined VUQ-10 as Executive Officer in March 2024 following completion of his assignment at the Joint Staff.
A native of Hillsborough, New Jersey, CDR Nesgood was commissioned in 2007 via Officer Candidate School at NAS Pensacola, Florida and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in April 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from Rutgers University and a Master of Arts Degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
CDR Nesgood’s operational assignments include tours with VAW-123 as a Junior Officer and a Department Head, and VAW-124 as Training Officer. He has deployed and served on board USS Enterprise (CVN 65), USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, INHERENT RESOLVE, and FREEDOM’S SENTINEL. As a Junior Officer, he was selected for and graduated from Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) Air Intercept Controller course in December 2011.
Ashore, CDR Nesgood served as a Weapons Tactics Instructor at the Airborne Command Control Logistics Weapons School, NS Norfolk, Virginia. In February 2022, he reported to Deputy Director for Regional Operations and Force Management, J-35 South, The Joint Staff on board NSA Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Virginia. He served as Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Joint Working Group Lead Planner and Secretary of Defense Orders Book Writer.
CDR Nesgood has accumulated over 2,400 flight hours in the E-2C and flown more than 75 combat missions with the U.S. Navy. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medals (three Strike/Flight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various campaign, service, and unit awards.
