Commander Nicholas Lowe

Originally from Lubbock, Texas, Commander Lowe graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2009, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering. CDR Lowe reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training in July 2009, earning his Naval Pilot Wings in September 2011. In that same month, CDR Lowe reported to the VFA-122 “Flying Eagles” for initial fleet training in the F/A-18E Super Hornet. 

In August 2012, CDR Lowe was assigned to the “Argonauts” of VFA-147 and began his operational flying career.  He made one combat deployment aboard the USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), participating in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  Moving to Kingsville, Texas, CDR Lowe reported to Flight Training Squadron Two One (VT-21) in February 2016 as an instructor pilot.  

CDR Lowe returned to Lemoore, California as Air Wing Landing Signal Officer (CAG LSO) assigned to Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVW-11) in May 2018.  After completing one Western Pacific deployment aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), CDR Lowe left team “Barbwire” and reported to the “Blue Blasters” of VFA-34 in Virginia Beach, VA as a Department Head in August 2020.  While with the “Blue Blasters,” he completed a Mediterranean deployment in support of NATO exercises as well as initial Enhanced Air Policing flights during NATO Operation ATLAS GUARDIAN. 

Following his department head tour, CDR Lowe attended the Naval War College in Newport, RI.  CDR Lowe graduated in June 2024 and received a Master of Arts Degree in Defense and Strategic Studies.  He selected for squadron command in 2023 and will report to VFA-115 as Executive Officer in January 2025.

CDR Lowe has accumulated over 2,400 flight hours. His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various service awards and ribbons.
