Commander Conor Boe

A native of Wilmette, Illinois, Commander Boe graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009 earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science. CDR Boe was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program and reported to NAS Pensacola, FL in June 2009 for flight training. CDR Boe was selected for the E-2 Hawkeye training pipeline and in September 2010 reported to the VAW-120 “Greyhawks” at Naval Station Norfolk, VA, for initial fleet training, earning his Naval Flight Officer Wings in August 2011.

CDR Boe began operational flying in November 2011 with the “Liberty Bells” of VAW-115 forward deployed at NAS Atsugi, Japan. While a “Liberty Bell,” he made six Western Pacific (WESTPAC) patrol periods aboard the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), participating in OPERATION DAMAYAN disaster relief in the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan in 2013. During this tour, CDR Boe graduated from the TOPGUN Air Intercept Controller (AIC) Course and qualified as a TOPGUN AIC.

CDR Boe reported to the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center at NAS Fallon, NV in December 2015 where he attended the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School (CAEWWS), qualifying as a Hawkeye Weapons and Tactics Instructor and was assigned to CAEWWS staff. While at CAEWWS, CDR Boe served as the Air and Missile Defense Subject Matter Expert (SME), Naval Integrated Fire Control-From the Sea SME, and APS-145 Radar Instructor. He was also the first lead E-2 Instructor for the newly created Integrated Air Defense Course and was selected as Hawkeye Naval Flight Officer of the Year, Ashore, in 2018.

CDR Boe returned to the fleet as a Training Officer with the “Black Eagles” of VAW-113 in August 2018, where he embarked aboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) in support of sustainment and readiness operations, and remained with the squadron through transition from the E-2C Hawkeye 2000 aircraft to the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye. CDR Boe subsequently reported to the “Wallbangers” of VAW-117 in April 2020 for his Department Head tour, where he completed a WESTPAC deployment aboard USS ABRAHAM LNCOLN (CVN 72), serving as the Quality Assurance Officer, Administrative Officer, and Operations Officer.

Following his Department Head tour, CDR Boe was selected for the Joint Staff in J-5 Strategy, Plans, and Policy, serving in the Deputy Directorate for Global Integration as an Action Officer and as Executive Assistant. He was selected for Command in March 2023, and is scheduled to report to VAW-115 as Executive Officer in April 2025.

CDR Boe has accumulated over 2,300 flight hours in seven aircraft. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), and various campaign and service awards.
