Command Master Chief Apryl R. Nanney

Command Master Chief Apryl Nanney, a native of Houma, Louisiana, enlisted in the Navy in September 1997 as an undesignated seaman and completed basic training at Recruit Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of basic training, she reported aboard USS Constitution until departing for Aviation Administrationman “A” school in Meridian, Mississippi.
Nanney’s shore assignments include the “Grim Reapers” of Strike Fighter Squadron 101, Fleet Readiness Center Southeast Detachment Mayport, Florida, Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, and Office of the Chief of Naval Operations N98, Arlington, Virginia.
Her first sea assignment with Strike Fighter Squadron 87 onboard USS Enterprise included the “Golden Warriors” conducting initial strike combat missions over Afghanistan after the September 11th attacks and a subsequent deployment in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt. Follow on sea assignments include back to back deployments with the “Fighting Checkmates” of Strike Fighter Squadron 211 onboard USS Enterprise in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, back to back deployments onboard USS Eisenhower with the “Night Dippers” of HS-5 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, deployment onboard USS George H W Bush (CVN-77) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Command Senior Chief of USS Sentry, and Command Master Chief of the “Bounty Hunters” of Strike Fighter Squadron 2. She is currently the Command Master Chief of the “Rough Raiders of Strike Fighter Squadron 125.
Her academic achievements include an Associate’s Degree in Administrative Management from Excelsior College. She is an honor graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 210) and graduate of the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Command Leadership School (Class 20080). Nanney’s warfare qualifications include Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Surface Warfare Specialist as well as Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist.
Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (9 awards), Military Volunteer Service Medal, Battle Efficiency Ribbon, 2021 Surface Navy Association Admiral Zumwalt Award for Visionary Leadership, as well as numerous other unit and campaign awards.
