Command Master Chief Danderrick Ocampo

Command Master Chief Sonny Ocampo was born in Manila, Philippines and was raised in Sand Francisco, CA.  He began his naval career on July 28, 1999 at Recruit Training Command, followed by completion of Hospital Corpsman “A” School, Field Medical Service School (West), and Biomedical Equipment Technician “C” School. 

His sea duty assignments include 3rd Light Armor Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd BN 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit embarked onboard USS Essex (LHD 2), 1st Battalion 3rd Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit again embarked onboard USS Essex (LHD 2), USS ARLINGTON (LPD 24), III Marine Expeditionary Force Support Battalion , 3d Intelligence Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, III Marine Logistics Group and currently assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE FOUR SEVEN.

His shore duty assignments were Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Branch Medical Clinic, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Naval Hospital Rota, Spain, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA, and Naval Support Activity Panama City. Additionally, he was appointed by BUMED as the Enlisted Technical Leader for Biomedical Equipment Technician (NEC LO8A) community.

Command Master Chief Ocampo’s Command Senior Enlisted Leader assignments were Acting III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group (O-6 Command), Combat Logistics Regiment 37 (O-6 Command), Acting Command Master Chief at III Marine Logistics Group (O-7 Command), Naval Support Activity Panama City (O-5 Command) and currently serving at Strike Fighter Squadron ONE FOUR SEVEN (O-5 Command).  

His deployments and major exercises were USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) KERNEL BLITZ, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, PHANTOM FURY and OPERATION NEW DAWN in Fallujah, Iraq again with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, USS ARLINGTON (LPD 24), USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) Hurricane Maria and USS George Washington (CVN 73) Indo-Pacific Patrol 25-1.

Command Master Chief Ocampo’s qualifications include the Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist (Ground Combat Element and Combat Service Support Element), and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. 

He is a graduate of the Command Master Chief and Chief of the Boat Course, Senior Enlisted Academy Class 248 Green Group, and Executive Medical Department Enlisted Course.

His personal decorations include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Five awards), Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct (8 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (Two awards) as well as various campaign and unit awards.
