Command Master Chief Myrtis Calhoun

Command Master Chief Myrtis “Shiree” Calhoun a native of Gulfport, Mississippi.  She entered the U.S. Navy and completed basic and apprenticeship training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in March 1996.  

Her enlisted tours include service as an undesignated airman with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Five (VQ-5) at Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island where she deployed aboard USS Constellation (CV 64) in 1997 and decided to strike for the Aviation Maintenance Administrationman rating.  Her follow-on assignments include Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department NAS Point Mugu, California; Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light Four-Seven (HSL-47); HELSUPPRON Eleven (HC-11), Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Twenty One (HSC-21) Plank owner, Fleet Readiness Center Southwest; Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron FIFTEEN (HSC-15), Commander Naval Air Force Pacific, Center for Naval Technical Training Unit North Island and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN ONE (HSM-71).  During her tours, she has deployed onboard USS Constellation (CV-64), USNS Rainier (T-AOE-7), USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72).

She is qualified Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Surface Warfare Specialist, and Master Training Specialist.  Upon completion of her tour at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN ONE in August 2025, she reported to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron FOUR ONE (HSM-41), where she currently serves as Command Master Chief.  

Command Master Chief Calhoun was selected as a Chief Petty Officer in 2010, Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2014, Master Chief Petty Officer in 2020 and Command Master Chief in 2022.  She is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Leadership Academy Class 204 (Blue Group) and Command Leadership School CMC/COB Course Class 22140.  Master Chief earned her associate's degree with Vincennes University.  

Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
