Command Master Chief James D. Walker

Command Master Chief Walker is a native of Wellsville, Ohio. He enlisted in United States Navy in June 1999, completing Yeoman “A” school in Meridian, MS.  His later schools included Chief Petty Officer Legacy Academy (Class 005) in 2011, U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 213 Red) in 2018, and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 21100) in 2021.   

Ashore, CMDCM Walker served tours fulfilling his administrative duties at: Personnel Support Detachment Millington, TN; Naval Postgraduate School Monterey, CA; Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, HI; and Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN Detachment Sasebo, Japan, and Command Master Chief of Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, CA.

Afloat, CMDCM Walker served tours onboard: USS MAHAN (DDG 72); USS FORD (FFG 54); Commander, Carrier Air Wing Seventeen (CVW-17) onboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71), Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN in Okinawa, Japan, Command Senior Enlisted Leader aboard USS DEVASTATOR (MCM 6), in Manama, Bahrain and most recently as Command Master Chief of Airborne Command & Control Squadron ONE ONE THREE (VAW 113), in Point Mugu CA.

He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), and various campaign and service medals.
