Command Master Chief Ilan J. Saulnier

Command Master Chief Ilan J. Saulnier is a native to Reno, raised in the mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe. He enlisted in the United States Navy in June of 2007 and reported to Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois that same month. He successfully completed ET “A” school in June of 2008.
In March of 2025, he was selected for Command Master Chief (CMDCM). His Sea duty assignments include USS Cape St. George (CG-71) where he served as CE LPO and USS
Spruance (DDG-111) where he served as the CE LCPO and Combat Systems DLCPO. He has completed 5 deployments and various underway operations in the 5th and 7th fleet AORs.
His subsequent shore duties include Center for Surface Combat Systems detachment Pearl Harbor, Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training detachment Atsugi, Japan, and
Surface Combat Systems Training Command Headquarters, Dahlgren, Virginia and Transient Personnel Unit Puget Sound.
In October of 2025, CMDCM Saulnier reported to the VP-46 “Grey Knights” as Command Master Chief. CMDCM Saulnier graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 259 (Khaki) in February 2023 and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat (CMC/COB) course (Class 24100) in June 2024. His NEC’s include 8SEA and 8CSC. He holds an Associates in Science with emphasis on Electronic Engineering Technology from Thomas Edison State University and is in pursuit of his Bachelors.
CMDCM Saulnier is qualified to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) insignia. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy
Achievement Award (six awards), Good Conduct Medal (six awards), and various other Unit and campaign awards.
