Master Chief Aircraft Maintenanceman Frank Martis

AFCM (AW/SW) Frank Martis, a Houston, Texas native, began his naval career in January 1996, graduating from Recruit Training Command and "A" School that May. His initial assignment was with Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fourteen (HM-14) in Norfolk, Virginia, where he advanced to Petty Officer Third Class.

He then served at the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Kauai, Hawaii, supporting H-3 helicopter operations and earning promotion to Second Class Petty Officer. 
Subsequently, he reported to USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) in Yokosuka, Japan, where he worked in AIMD’s Jet Shop on multiple engine platforms. His expertise led to his advancement to Aviation Machinist’s Mate First Class and designation as a full systems Quality Assurance Representative.

Following sea duty, Master Chief Martis transferred to Fleet Readiness Center Northwest (FRCNW), serving as a multi-work center Leading First Class Petty Officer and Divisional Leading Petty Officer. He then transitioned the squadron from the EA-6B Prowler to the EA-18G Growler at VAQ-135. At VAQ-141 in Atsugi, Japan, he served as QA LPO, earning selection to Chief Petty Officer. Later, at VAQ-133, he was Maintenance Control Chief, performing Safe-for-Flight duties and serving as Aircraft Division Leading Chief Petty Officer.

Returning to FRCNW, Master Chief Martis served as Paraloft LCPO, 400 Division LCPO, and Production Control Supervisor, advancing to Senior Chief. He then transferred to VAQ-142 as Maintenance Control Supervisor and then QAS, earning selection to Master Chief.

He then transferred to VAQ-140, completing his tour as Maintenance Master Chief, leading two deployments. He now serves as the inaugural Senior Enlisted Leader for the Naval Aviation Maintenance Center of Excellence – Training (NAMCE-T).

His awards and decorations include two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, seven Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualifications.
