Commander Michael “Donny G” Bosworth II

Commander Bosworth, originally from Dripping Springs, Texas, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2009, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
Designated as a Naval Aviator in 2013, he reported to VFA-106 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, for initial training in the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. He joined the “Diamondbacks” of VFA-102, forward deployed to Atsugi, Japan, in the spring of 2014. He deployed in the Western Pacific for three consecutive years onboard the USS George Washington (CVN 73) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). At VFA-102, he served as Public Affairs Officer, AV/ARM Division Officer, and Weapons and Tactics Officer.
Commander Bosworth was selected to attend the Navy Fighter Weapons School, TOPGUN, and graduated in August 2017. He then reported to Strike Fighter Weapons School Pacific (SFWSP) in Lemoore, California, and served as a Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor and the Air-to-Air Employment subject matter expert.
In September 2019, he reported to VFA-192 “World Famous Golden Dragons” stationed at NAS Lemoore as the Training Officer.
In September 2020, Commander Bosworth reported for his department head tour with “Ragin’ Bulls” VFA-37. There, he served as the Maintenance Officer and Operations Officer while executing flight operations during the inaugural deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78).
In January 2023, Commander Bosworth transferred to the Joint Staff, J7, Deployable Training Division in Suffolk, Virginia, where he served as a Joint Fires and Effects trainer for Combatant Command exercises.
He joined the Mighty Shrikes of VFA-94 in November of 2025 as the Executive Officer.
Commander Bosworth has flown over 1,800 hours and has over 350 carrier landings. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign and unit awards.
