Command Master Chief Rivers is a native of Sumter, South Carolina and reported to Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes, Illinois in June 2000. He graduated from Aviation Electronics Technician “A” school in March 2001.

 His sea duty assignments include USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71); USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74); Strike Fighter Squadron ONE FIVE ONE; USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) where he was the ONLY enlisted qualified Officer of the Deck Underway; and Strike Fighter TWO TWO.

His shore duty assignments include Southeast Regional Calibration Center, Jacksonville, FL; Recruit Division Commander at Officer Training Command, Newport, Rhode Island; Senior Enlisted Leader, NAVAIR, Patuxent River, MD and Fleet Readiness Center Southeast, Jacksonville, FL.

He has completed eight deployments to the Western Pacific and Middle East in support of OPERATIONS ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and OCTAVE QUARTZ.
 
Command Master Rivers’ personal qualifications, awards and education include the Enlisted Aviation, Enlisted Surface, and Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist designations; seven Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and various unit and campaign awards. He is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 203 “Gold,” Command Master Chief Class 19020, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from American Military University.

He assumed duties as the Command Master Chief for Strike Fighter Squadron NINE SEVEN on 15 December 2025.
