Lieutenant Commander Mahoney is a native of Hampton, VA. She enlisted in the Navy in 1998 as an Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) and was accepted for a direct commission through Officer Candidate School (OCS) in the Aviation Maintenance Duty Officer community in 2011.

She attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and received her Master of Science in Aeronautics in March 2016. She earned DoN Acquisition Professional Membership in March 2020 with Level 3 certification in the Production, Quality, and Manufacturing career field.

Mahoney’s operational assignments include the Saberhawks of Helicopter Strike Squadron Seven Seven (HSM-77), where she served as Maintenance Material Control Officer (MMCO), Quality Assurance Officer (QAO), and Material Control Officer (MCO) in support of USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) deployments in 2010 and 2011. She executed the command’s FDNF permanent duty station move to Atsugi, Japan, in support of a Seventh Fleet deployment onboard USS George Washington (CVN-73).

Mahoney’s shore assignments include Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department Atsugi where she served as the MMCO and Avionics/Armament Division Officer. Her follow-on corporate tour was at Space and Warfare Systems Command Atlantic (SPAWAR) serving as the Fleet Support Officer coordinating contract support services to multiple fleet interfaces including Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS) and Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA). She served with the Vigilantes of Strike Fighter Squadron One Five One (VFA-151) as the Assistant Maintenance Officer (AMO) during an around-the-world combat cruise onboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) in 2019 and as MMCO upon return. She is currently serving as the Maintenance Officer at Naval Aviation Center for Excellence (NAMCE), in Lemoore, Ca.

Mahoney has served in enlisted tours including an operational assignment onboard USS Boxer where she served as AIMD Production Control Chief, and Expeditionary Logistics Unit (VanOpDet) as an Avionics Technician. Her enlisted shore tour was served as an AT “A” School Instructor at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) in Pensacola, FL.

Mahoney completed the Space Systems Certificate from Naval Postgraduate School in March 2021. She earned her Professional Aviation Maintenance Officer wings and has been awarded Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals (3 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals (4 awards), and various other unit and personal awards.

She has one child, Jett (6). She is married to Brian Mahoney
