He reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, for flight training in August 2002, earning his Naval Aviator Wings in January 2004. His operational assignments include two tours with the Ironmen of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron THREE (VQ-3), assistant navigator aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), and commanding officer of the Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron FOUR (VQ-4) Shadows. CAPT Brown's shore duty assignments include instructor duty with the Roughnecks of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron SEVEN (VQ-7), serving as aviation detailer and placement officer at Naval Personnel Command, as well as Deputy Division Director of the Command Centers Division at U.S. Strategic Command. In March 2014, CAPT Brown earned a Master of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). In June 2022, he earned a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy with a concentration in Weapons of Mass Destruction from the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy. CAPT Brown has accumulated 3,000 flight hours in multiple aircraft. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and various other personal, unit, and service awards.
