Mission VUQ-10's ultimate mission is to man, train and equip Fleet Aviators to operate the Unmanned Carrier Launched Air Vehicle in the fleet Now, support MQ-25 testing to man, train and equip Aviators and Sailors to operate the MQ-25 in an operational environment
VUQ-10 and the MQ-25 Fleet Training is located aboard NAS Patuxent River, MD. This enables the Fleet to integrate in the development and test of the MQ-25A Stingray. For the next few years, VUQ-10 will work alongside VX-23, UX-24 and VX-1 to test, train and develop operational and maintenance procedures for the Stingray. VUQ-10 (40534/0010J/0992E) will ultimately move to NBVC Point Mugu, CA. History Unmanned Carrier-Launched Multi-Role Squadron Ten (VUQ-10) is the Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) for the MQ-25 Stingray. The MQ-25 Stingray is the Navy’s first carrier-based unmanned aircraft. As a multi-role air vehicle, the MQ-25 will usher in the air wing of the future (AWOTF), shifting secondary missions from manned platforms to unmanned air vehicles like the MQ-25 and expanding the capabilities of the Carrier Strike Group (CSG). Initially, the MQ-25’s primary mission will be to conduct mission tanking; extending the carrier air wing’s (CVW) strike range by aerial refueling air wing aircraft at ranges from the carrier and fuel off-load quantities that were previously unachievable. MQ-25 increases the overall lethality of the CVW by relieving the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet of the aerial refueling mission, enabling ordnance to replace refueling stores on the F/A-18’s pylons. As secondary missions, MQ-25 will conduct recovery tanking and organic intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) to the CSG. As the FRS, VUQ-10’s primary mission is to man, train, and equip personnel to operate the MQ-25 in the fleet. VUQ-10 was established on 01 October 2022 at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. VUQ-10 is commanded by Cmdr. Emily Mooren.
