Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 138 “Yellow Jackets”

Our mission is to seek out, detect, suppress, and destroy enemy air defense radar in order to allow strike aircraft to successfully destroy their targets and return home safely.

About Us

The Yellow Jackets of VAQ-138 are charged with projecting electronic attack dominance anywhere in the world at any time by providing fully combat ready aircraft and personnel. Based in the Pacific Northwest at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA, VAQ-138 projects electronic dominance utilizing the new EA-18G Growler.

The EA-18G Growler aircraft we fly represents the most advanced technology in airborne Electronic Attack and stands as the Navy’s first line of defense in hostile environments.

A variant of the F/A-18F Super Hornet Block II, the EA-18G Growler combines the capability of the combat-proven Super Hornet with the latest AEA avionics suite evolved from the Improved Capability III (ICAP III) system. The EA-18G’s vast array of sensors and weapons provides the warfighter with a lethal and survivable weapon system to counter current and emerging threats.
