A native of Saratoga, New York, LCDR Premo graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central High School in 1998. Following high school, he enlisted in the Navy and reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of initial recruit training, he reported to Naval Aviation Schools Command in Pensacola, Florida where he attended Naval Aircrew Candidate School, Aviation Rescue Swimmer School, and Aviation Warfare Specialist “A” School. Follow-on orders brought him to Mayport, Florida and the “AIRWOLVES” of HSL-40 for Fleet Replacement Training in the SH-60B helicopter. He received his Naval Aircrewman “Wings of Gold” in January 2000 and reported to the “GRANDMASTERS” of HSL-46 for his first sea tour. He amassed over 1200 flight hours and completed three deployments before receiving orders back to the “AIRWOLVES” of HSL-40 to serve as an Aircrew Instructor in November 2004. LCDR Premo attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University while serving on active duty and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics. He applied and was accepted to attend Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island where he received his commission in July 2008.

LCDR Premo returned to Naval Aviation Schools Command aboard NAS Pensacola, Florida and entered pilot flight training in November 2008. He received his Naval Aviator “Wings of Gold” in January 2011 and transferred to the “GREYHAWKS” of VAW-120 aboard Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia where he learned to fly the mighty Grumman C-2A Greyhound.

LCDR Premo reported to the forward deployed “PROVIDERS” of VRC-30 Detachment Five, NAF Atsugi, Japan in March of 2012 and completed three deployments throughout the Indo-Pacific region in support of USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73). In February 2018 he once again reported to the “PROVIDERS” as Assistant Officer in Charge of Detachment Five, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan where he completed two deployments supporting USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76).
