He completed a Master of Arts in National Security Studies at Georgetown University in January 2010 before reporting to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training. Following training stints at VT-27 in Corpus Christi, TX and HT-28 in Milton, FL, “GB” earned his Naval Aviator Wings in January 2011 and reported to the HSC-2 “Fleet Angels” in Norfolk, VA for the MH-60S FRS in February 2011. CDR Stahl began his operational flying in October 2011 with the “Chargers” of HSC-26 in Norfolk, VA. During his three-year tour, he made two operational deployments to FIFTH FLEET, supporting Commander Task Force 53 (CTF-53) out of Bahrain as a member of the “World Famous Desert Hawks” of HSC-26.1. Following his initial sea tour, “GB” reported to the HSC-3 “Merlins” in San Diego, CA as an FRS Instructor Pilot in February 2016, a tour which culminated in his role as Standardization Officer. In September 2018, CDR Stahl was assigned to Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) as Flag Aide to Rear Admiral (RADM) Christian Becker. While an aide, “GB” screened for operational Department Head in May 2019. He joined the “Wildcards” of HSC-23 in November 2020 and served as Training DH, OIC to the HSC-23.1 “Dealers” on-board USS TRIPOLI (LHA-7), and Operations Officer for the Wildcards’ 16-aircraft, 470-person expeditionary command. While attached to HSC-23, CDR Stahl earned the Navy & Marine Association’s 2021 Department Head Leadership Award, presented by COMNAVAIRFOR via HELSEACOMBATWINGPAC. Following his Department Head tour, “GB” served as PERS-433J, the HSC/HM/HT/TACRON Placement Officer at Navy Personnel Command (NPC) in Millington, TN from October 2022 – November 2023. He screened for operational command in March 2023, and joined the “World Famous Golden Falcons” of HSC-12 as Executive Officer in September 2024. CDR Stahl has accumulated over 1,900 flight hours as a Naval Aviator. His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various service awards and ribbons.
