His subsequent sea tours included a 2016 personnel exchange with the Royal Navy as a carrier air wing subject matter expert aboard the first-in-class HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH and a department head tour with “Bounty Hunters” of Strike Fighter Squadron TWO, deploying aboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) for a Western Pacific deterrence patrol in 2021.

CDR Tenbusch graduated from the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) in 2014, after which he reported to the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center’s STRIKE Department for a tour as a Strike Fighter Instructor, supporting Carrier Air Wing Integrated Training detachments and serving as the Navy’s lead planner for the U.S. Air Force-led Neptune exercise series.

Following his department head tour, CDR Tenbusch attended the U.S. Naval War College, where he graduated second in his class with a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies and remained as a graduate research fellow with the Halsey Alfa Advanced Research Program.
