Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 25 “Fist of the Fleet”

Mission

"The Fist" provides America with the unique capability of flying combat jets from large-deck aircraft carriers as part of the magnificent enterprise known as Naval Aviation.

About Us

Strike Fighter Squadron 25, the "Fist of the Fleet", was originally commissioned Torpedo Squadron 17 in 1943, operating during World War II with TBM and SB2C attack bombers flying from the deck of USS HORNET.

In the fall of 2012 VFA-25 completed its transition to the F/A-18E Super Hornet.

The F/A-18E Super Hornet aircraft we fly is the world's most advanced strike fighter. Designed to operate from a carrier, the Super Hornet is fully capable in both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.

The Super Hornet is the second major model upgrade since the inception of the F/A-18 aircraft program highly capable across the full mission spectrum: air superiority, fighter escort, reconnaissance, aerial refueling, close air support, air defense suppression and day/night precision strike.
