Command Master Chief, Unmanned Carrier-Launched Multi-Role Squadron 10

A native of Port Matilda, Pennsylvania, after graduating from Bald Eagle Area High School, he enlisted in the U.S Navy on 10 August, 2006.  Upon completion of basic training, he attended Naval Aircrew Candidate School, Rescue Swimmer School, Anti-Submarine Warfare Systems Operator “A” school, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape, and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 41 (HSM 41) Fleet Replacement Squadron.  

At his first fleet assignment, he served as a rescue swimmer and sensor operator with Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 71 (HSM 71).  He completed multiple deployments in support of various operations during WESTPAC 2009, 2011, and 2012.  During his time at HSM 71, he led many programs including NATOPS, Training, and Operations.  He earned his Seahawk Weapons and Tactics Instructor qualification in 2012.

In January, 2014 at the completion of his tour at HSM-71, became an instructor at the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center Rotary Wing Weapons School.  He was selected as the Subject Matter Expert for both ASW Search and the GAU-21.  He contributed to Fleet understanding of ASW Search tactics, writing the governing chapter of the SEAWOLF manual.

After NAWDC, he returned to NAS North Island for his next tour with the Griffins of HSM-79.  He completed one 10-month deployment aboard the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72).   He served as the Aircrew LCPO, CFL, and CACO, as well as 3M manager for the squadron while underway.

In September of 2020 Senior Chief McPheron joined AIRTEVRON ONE (VX-1), the premier squadron for Operational Testing on H-60, E-2, and P-8 aircraft.  During his time at VX-1, he served as Safety LCPO, Operational Test Directorate LCPO, and Operations Department LCPO.  He also began a community outreach program initiative that continues today.

In 2024, selected for the Command Senior Chief Program and after graduation of CMC/COB Course, reported to AIRTEVRON 23 (VX-23) as the new Command Senior Chief.  Promoted to Command Master Chief in March of 2025, he reported in April to Unmanned Carrier Launched Multi-Role Squadron ONE ZERO (VUQ-10) as the command’s second CMC.

He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class #255 (Green Group); holds a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Millersville University.  Qualified Master Training Specialist and CFL, his decorations include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4), Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
