A native of Syracuse, New York, Commander Allen was commissioned in 2007. Upon completion of flight training, he earned his “Wings of Gold” in July 2009. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Business Administration from the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary. Commander Allen’s operational sea duty assignments include serving as a Ground Safety Officer, Personnel Officer, and Quality Assurance Officer with Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 123 and as a Department Head with VAW-125, where he served as Administrative Officer, Safety Officer, and Operations Officer. Over the course of his career, he has completed five deployments aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), supporting Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, FREEDOM 'S SENTINEL, and ALLIES REFUGE. Commander Allen’s shore duty experience includes serving as an Instructor at Fleet Replacement Squadron VAW-120, where he served as the E-2 Hawkeye Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization Program Manager. He also served as Aide-de-Camp at the Navy Warfare Development Center and as a Contingency Planner in the Eastern Flank Branch of the J5 Plans Division at United States European Command. Commander Allen has amassed over 2,000 flight hours across four variants of the E-2 Hawkeye, completed more than 500 carrier-arrested landings, and flown over 35 combat missions in support of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medals, and Navy Achievement Medal, along with numerous campaign, service, and unit awards.
