Captain Nicholas Good

22 October 2020 Captain Nicholas Good graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1996 with a degree in Ocean Engineering.  Winged a Naval Aviator at NAS Meridian, MS in 1998, he received orders to the “Gladiators” of VFA-106 to commence training in the F/A-18 Hornet.  

CAPT Good’s operational assignments include tours with Strike Fighter Squadron 37 (VFA-37 as a junior officer, with Strike Fighter Squadron 94 (VFA-94) as a training officer, and Strike Fighter Squadron 146 (VFA-146) as a Department Head.  He has completed five deployments aboard various ships to include the USS Truman (CVN-75), USS Stennis (CVN-74) and USS Bush (CVN-77).  Good has logged over 3,500 flight hours and has accumulated more than 700 carrier-arrested landings.  He commanded Strike Fighter Squadron 15 (VFA-15) operationally, based out of NAS Oceana.

His shore assignments include Strike Fighter Instructor pilot at Strike; Personnel Recovery Officer for the NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan; Chief of Air Space and Land Branch for programming and budgeting for NORAD and USNORTHCOM.  In addition, he commanded Strike Fighter Squadron 101 (VFA-101), the Navy’s first F-35C Fleet Replacement Squadron.

For graduate education, CAPT Good attended the United States Navy War College, where he earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies.  His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Strike Flight Air Medal (four awards, Combat V), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards, Combat V), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards) and numerous other campaign and unit awards.
