Captain Dave A. Vondrak

Commanding Officer, Fleet Readiness Center West

23 October 2020 Captain David Vondrak is a native of Wall Lake, Iowa, and a 1997 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He was designated an aerospace maintenance duty officer in 1998.

He attended the United States Postgraduate School, Monterey, California and earned a Master of Science Degree in Operations Research in March 2009. He is an Acquisition Corps member with Level III certifications in Production, Quality, and Manufacturing and Life Cycle Logistics career fields.

Vondrak's operational assignments include Material Control Officer (MCO)/Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) in Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 22, QAO/Maintenance Material Control Officer (MMCO)/Assistant Maintenance Officer (AMO) in Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron (VQ) 3, aircraft (IM2)/avionics (IM3) division officer in Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72), Carrier Air Group Maintenance Officer (CAGMO) in Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 14, and Maintenance Officer (MO) in Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 129. He completed deployments aboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) in support of Operations Desert Fox and Southern Watch, CVN 72 in support of Tsunami relief efforts in Banda Aceh, Indonesia and supporting the Department of Defense's Surge capability, and aboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) supporting the nation's War on Terror.

His assignments to shore and staff billets include Officer-in-Charge Fleet Readiness Center Southeast Detachment Jacksonville, Florida, Director Total Force and Deputy Director Technical Support at Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Headquarters Pensacola, Florida and Commanding Officer Fleet Readiness Center Northwest, Whidbey Island, Washington.

He reported as Executive Officer, Fleet Readiness Center West at NAS Lemoore, California in July 2018 and in May 2020 assumed command as the seventh Commanding Officer.

Vondrak earned his Professional Aviation Maintenance Officer Wings and has been awarded Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit citations and campaign ribbons.
