Master Chief Silva is a native of Canoga Park, CA. After enlisting in July 1998 and completing Recruit Training Command, he reported to Hospital Corpsman "A" School in Great Lakes, IL. Upon graduation, he reported to Field Medical Service School Camp Pendleton, CA where he earned his 8404 Field Medical Service Technician Navy Enlisted Classification Code.
In April 1999, Hospitalman Recruit Silva reported for duty with 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division aboard Camp Pendleton, CA.While assigned to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, he served as a Platoon Corpsman and a Preventative Medicine Representative, and completed two successful deployments to the Western Pacific with the 13th and 15th MARINE EXPEDITIONARY UNITS (MEU).
In November 2002, Master Chief Silva reported to U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan. Where he served as the Command Chief Master-at-Arms, and later, as the Directorate Leading Petty Officer for Nursing Services.
In January 2006, Master Chief Silva reported to Recruit Division Commander (RDC) School at Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes, IL. After successfully graduating, he served as an RDC for six recruit divisions, earned his Master Training Specialist qualification, became an RTC Fleet Quality Assurance Inspector, and was selected as the 2007 RDC of the year.
After a successful tour at RTC Great Lakes, IL Master Chief Silva reported for duty with 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, and 2nd Marine Division aboard Camp Lejeune, NC in May 2009. While assigned as the Battalion's Medical Chief, Master Chief Silva deployed to Marjah, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Upon completion of a successful combat deployment, Master Chief Silva was selected as the 2010 Commanding General's Navy Senior Enlisted Leader of the Year and was assigned as the 2nd Marine Division Navy Manpower and Personnel Chief for the Division Surgeon's Office.
In January 2013, Master Chief Silva reported to Naval Branch Health Clinic Portsmouth, NH where he served as the clinic's Senior Enlisted Leader. In March 2016, Master Chief Silva reported to 2nd Medical Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, NC and was assigned as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Headquarters and Service Company. During this tour he was selected as the Navy Senior Enlisted Leader for the 24th MEU where he deployed to the FIFTH FLEET and SIXTH FLEET in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, and to Haiti and Puerto Rico in support of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations following hurricanes Matthew and Maria.
In October of 2018, Master Chief Silva reported to Field Medical Training Battalion East, Camp Lejeune, NC to serve as the Command Master Chief. Master Chief Silva then reported to the "Fighting Redcocks" of Strike Fighter Squadron Two Two (VFA-22) in June 2020 to serve as the Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Silva is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course, and holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Management from the University of Phoenix. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
