Command Master Chief Francisco R. Lazarin Jr.

Command Master Chief, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 27

26 October 2020 Master Chief Lazarin is a native of Long Beach, California.  He graduated from Gadsden High School in Anthony, NM before entering the United States Navy in January 1998.
 
After recruit training, he attended Hospital Corpsman "A" School and Field Medical Service School prior to reporting to his first assignment at U. S. Naval Hospital, Okinawa, Japan December 1998.  In 2001 he reported to PCU IWO JIMA (LHD 7) as a plankowner where he earned his Surface and Air Warfare qualifications.  USS IWO JIMA was commissioned on 30 June, 2001 in Pensacola, FL, and completed an eight month maiden deployment in the Mediterranean Sea in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and off the coast of Liberia as part of JTF Liberia. 
 
Other assignments include Submarine Force Independent Duty Corpsman “C” School, graduating from NUMI with honors, USS SANTA FE (SSN 763) in Pearl Harbor, HI earning his qualification in Submarines, COMSUBRON ELEVEN San Diego, CA, and USS EMORY S. LAND (AS 39), Senior Enlisted Leader of Undersea Rescue Command in San Diego, CA, and Senior Enlisted Leader, Nursing Services Directorate, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA.
 
In June 2021, he assumed duties as the command master chief of STRIKE FIGHTER SQUADRON TWO SEVEN (VFA-27) homeported in Iwakuni, Japan.  As part of CARRIER AIR WING FIVE, they embark onboard the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76) in support of COMMANDER TASK FORCE SEVEN ZERO conducting Indo-Pacific operations.
 
Master Chief Lazarin is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 199 (brown), Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course 21060 and completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Trident University International.  His personal awards include the meritorious service medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Three awards) and various other unit awards.
