Executive Officer, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 146

26 October 2020 CDR Dave Wrigley graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science in History.  Upon graduation, CDR Wrigley reported to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, FL for Aviation Pre-flight Indoctrination in September 2005.  From there, he reported to various training squadrons, ultimately reporting to STRIKE FIGHTER SQUADRON ONE ZERO SIX (VFA 106) ”Gladiators” at Virginia Beach, VA for initial flight training in the F/A-18C. 
 
CDR Wrigley began his operational flying with the “World Famous Golden Dragons” of VFA-192 in February 2009.  During his time with the World Famous Golden Dragons, he completed two patrols to the SEVENTH Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR) aboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), executed a homeport change to NAS Lemoore, CA, and conducted a workup and deployment aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) completing combat missions as part of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Operation NEW DAWN, and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Following his tour with the “Golden Dragons,” in February 2012 CDR Wrigley reported to the “Flying Eagles” of VFA-122 as an Instructor Pilot and Landing Signals Officer.  During his time with the “Flying Eagles,” CDR Wrigley qualified in all phases of instruction and instructed students in all models of F/A-18A-F.
CDR Wrigley reported for duty as Carrier Air Wing 9 Staff Landing Signals Officer (CVW-9 CAG Paddles) in June 2014.  During this tour, he guided an “all nugget” Air Wing through an arduous workup cycle, which culminated in a deployment aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) to the 7th Fleet AOR.  During this tour, CDR Wrigley was named the 2016 CNAP Paddles of the Year. 
In July 2016, CDR Wrigley returned to an operational squadron as a Department Head, flying the F/A-18E with the VFA-151 “Vigilantes.”  While a “Vigilante,” he served as Safety Officer, Maintenance Officer, and Operations Officer.  He again completed a workup and deployment aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) and flew combat missions in support of Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.
Following his Department Head tour, CDR Wrigley reported to Stuttgart, Germany, where he served as NATO Action Officer, US European Command, J5/8 Directorate.  While at USEUCOM, he directly linked US-NATO plans, policy, and strategy, and facilitated the Support NATO Line of Effort.  In November 2020, CDR Wrigley reported to the VFA 146 the “Blue Diamonds,” where he is currently serving as the Executive Officer.
Commander Wrigley has accumulated 2,151.6 hours in the F/A-18 and other aircraft.
