Commander Jimmy Dalo

Executive Officer, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 8

27 October 2020 A native of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, Commander Dalo graduated from The U.S. Naval Academy in 2003.  He reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for initial flight training in June 2003 and in 2005, CDR Dalo reported to the HS-10 “Warhawks” in San Diego, CA for initial fleet training as an SH-60F and HH-60H Pilot.

In 2006, CDR Dalo began his operational flying career with the “Red Lions” of  HS-15 in Jacksonville, FL.  While a “Red Lion”, he deployed with the 2515th Navy Air Ambulance Detachment to Camp Beuhring, Kuwait; USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) and Carrier Air Wing SEVENTEEN (CVW-17); and finally with the Combined Joint Special Operations Air Component-Iraq (CJSOAC-I), to Balad Air Base, Iraq.

In 2009, CDR Dalo reported to the “Pioneers” of VX-1 in Patuxent River, MD serving as a Test Director and Tactics Development Officer for the MH-60S/R.  During his tenure at VX-1, he graduated from the Seahawk Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course in Fallon, NV as well as graduating with honors from The Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering with a M.S. in Systems Engineering.

In 2012, CDR Dalo was selected to join the “Red Wolves” of HSC-84 in Norfolk, VA.  He deployed three times supporting the Joint Special Operations Air Component - Arabian Peninsula (JSOAC-AP) and the Special Operations Component Crisis Response Element (SOCCRE) as the Assistant Officer in Charge and as a Command Flight Lead.

In 2016, CDR Dalo reported to the “Chargers” of HSC-26 in Norfolk, VA for his Department Head Tour.   He deployed as the Officer in Charge of a four aircraft detachment providing rotary wing support to the US FIFTH Fleet’s AOR.  While ashore, he served as the Command Operations Officer, Training Officer and Safety Officer.

Following his Department Head tour, CDR Dalo served as a Joint Staff Officer in the Theater Maritime Operations Center, and as the Military Assistant to Commander, Submarines NATO while attached to NATO Allied Maritime Command, Northwood, United Kingdom.
CDR Dalo has accumulated over 2,500 flight hours. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal (two awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), and various service awards and ribbons.
