Command Senior Chief, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 12

27 October 2020 Command Senior Chief Millard G. Charles was born in Baytown, Texas in 1981.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in San Antonio, Texas in 1999.
He completed recruit basic training at RTC Great lakes, Illinois then reported to “AO” A School training at NATTC Pensacola, Florida.  His first duty assignment was at USS KITTYHAWK (CV 63) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan in December of 1999.  Subsequent shore assignments were at NAF Misawa, later deemed NMC EAD DET Yokosuka Annex Misawa, in Misawa, Japan.
 
CMDCS Charles first Command as an Aviation Ordnanceman Chief was to USS GEORGE WASHINGTON as a Weapons Department Sailor who was requested to AIMD for re-structure of the 700 Division as LCPO due to his outstanding work ethic and passion for the Navy.  Upon Hull Swap to USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) he was then selected to Aviation Ordnancemen Senior Chief were he continued working in AIMD but as the Production control Senior Chief.  After that highly successful tour was complete he then transferred to HSC-12 as the AV/ARM LCPO, Aircraft Division LCPO, Maintenance Control desk CPO, and his last job as an Aviation Ordnanceman Senior Chief was to the Armament Division.
 
On February 18, 2021, CMDCS Charles was selected for the CSEL program and is currently holding the challenging position of HSC-12’s Senior Enlisted Leader.
 
Sea assignments have included:  USS KITTYHAWK (CV 63), USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72), USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76), and HELSEACOMBATRON TWELVE (HSC-12).
 
CMDCS Charles’ qualified to wear the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) insignia and his personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (first award) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Good Conduct Medal (four awards), and numerous other campaign and unit awards.
