29 October 2020 CDR Hinkle hails from McLean, VA, and graduated from Villanova University in 2003 with a B.A. in Sociology. He was commissionedinto the United States Navy through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Following his commission, he began flight training and received his wings of gold as a Naval Flight Officer in 2005 at Randolph AFB, TX. Upon completion of FRS training at VP-30,CDR Hinkle joined the “Golden Eagles” of Patrol Squadron Nine (VP-9) at MCBH Kaneohe Bay, HI. There he completed two deployments and an operational surge to the FIFTH FLEET Area of operations in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. Hequalified as Instructor Tactical Coordinator and Patrol Plane Mission Commander.

In March 2009, CDR Hinkle reported to the “Pioneers” of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron One (VX-1) at NAS Patuxent River, MD. While there, he qualified as a Maritime Weapons and Tacticsinstructor and served as the Fixed Wings Tactics Officer and Assistant Operational Test Director for the first P-8A aircraft. CDR Hinkle assisted in both developmental and operational test of the platform as well as government acceptance of VX-1’s first P-8Aaircraft. In 2012, he transferred to the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Weapons School and P-8A Fleet Introduction Team at NAS Jacksonville, FL. While there, he served as the P-8A lead for tactics and post-FRS training development and qualified as an FRS instructor.

In May of 2014 CDR Hinkle reported to the “Fighting Tigers” of Patrol Squadron Eight (VP-8) for his Department Head tour. While there he served as Tactics, Training and Operations Officer.He led the Tigers through their transition to the P-8A, a challenging FRTP that included 11 detachments, including seven OCONUS detachments, and the Squadron’s maiden deployment to SEVENTH Fleet with the P-8A.

Following his Department Head tour, CDR Hinkle returned to NAS Patuxent River where he served as the Integrated Product Team Lead for the P-8Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) program as part of PMA-290. He most recently served as the Executive Assistant to COMSEVENTHFLT aboard USS BLUE RIDGE stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. CDR Hinkle reported to Patrol Squadron Four (VP-4) asExecutive Officer in June 2020.

CDR Hinkle has over 2400 hrs in P-3C and P-8A aircraft. His personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (Strike/Flight) (7),Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He holds a Masters Degree in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas and earned his Joint Professional Military Education Phase I from the Naval WarCollege.
