Command Master Chief Marc J. Puco

Command Master Chief, USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74)

28 December 2020 Master Chief Puco was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and enlisted in the Navy in March 1990.  Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida, he reported to Naval Training Center, Orlando, where he completed Basic Electricity and Electronics School.  Afterwards, he attended ET “A” School at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes and completed various “C” Schools at Service School Command, San Diego.

Upon graduation, he reported for duty with Maritime Prepositioning Ships Squadron Three, forward deployed to the Northern Mariana Islands area. His next assignment was Ashore Mobile Communications Contingency Pacific Two, homeported at Totsuka, Japan. In 1995, he reported to the USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42), homeported in Sasebo, Japan, where he served as Leading Petty Officer for the Electronics Division. 

Master Chief Puco served as a Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, he advanced to Chief Petty Officer and reported to the USS TRENTON (LPD 14) as the Division Leading Chief Petty Officer in the Electronics Division.  In 2005, he was selected to the rank of Senior Chief.  His following assignment was the USS SAN JACINTO (CG 56) where he served as the Combat Systems Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and earned his qualification as Command Duty Officer from 2006 to 2009. In 2008, he was promoted to Master Chief and in 2009 selected for the Command Master Chief program. His Command Master Chief tours consist of Strike Fighter Squadron EIGHT THREE, Strike Fighter Squadron ONE ZERO SIX, Carrier Air Wing SEVEN (CVW-7) and Naval Station Norfolk. 

Master Chief Puco attended the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 145.  Additionally, he has earned his Enlisted Aviation Warfare, Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Information Warfare and Master Training Specialist designations.  Master Chief Puco holds a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration in Technology Management from Saint Leo University and an Associates in Applied Science in Administration/Management Studies from Excelsior College.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), and various unit and campaign awards. 

Master Chief Puco assumed the duties of Command Master Chief of USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) in September of 2019.
