Command Master Chief Jeffrey Reeder

Command Master Chief, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5

29 December 2020 Master Chief Reeder, a native of Wichita Falls, Texas, enlisted in the United States Navy in February 1993.

Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois he reported to the Airman Apprenticeship School, also in Great Lakes.

Upon graduation he reported to Fighter Squadron (VF) 33, located at Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana, Virginia. Upon disestablishment of VF 33, he reported to VF 102, also located at NAS Oceana, where he deployed on USS America (CV 66), and was rated as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate.

His other fleet assignments include Patrol Squadron (VP) 40 at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington, and Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron (VQ) 2, also at NAS Whidbey Island.

In addition, Master Chief Reeder completed shore assignments at Crash, Fire and Rescue, Naval Air Landing Field Orange Grove, Texas; Maintenance Program Instructor for Fleet Aviation Specialized Operational Training Group Pacific at NAS Whidbey Island, and Sixth Battalion Senior Enlisted Leader at the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland.

Master Chief Reeder holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 159, Gold) and earned his Enlisted Aviation and Surface Warfare Specialist and Master Training Specialist designations.

Master Chief Reeder was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in February 2013 and completed the CMC/COB Course at the Command Leadership School, Newport, Rhode Island, in December 2013.

He reported to his first command assignment at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, California in January 2014. He was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer in May 2015. In April 2016, he reported to VAQ-140 deployed on USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). For his third command tour, he joined Carrier Air Wing Five in May 2019, and deploys on board USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) in Yokosuka, Japan.

Master Chief Reeder’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
