16 February 2021 Command Master Chief Christopher T. Owens enlisted in November 1996 as a Hospital Corpsman and completed basic training at Recruit Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois.

Owens’ previous duty stations and assignments include: Naval Hospital Corps A School, San Diego, California; Field Medical Service School, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; Pharmacy Technician C School, Portsmouth, Virginia; USS Denver (LPD 9) in San Diego, California; School of Infantry West, Camp Pendleton, California; Naval Hospital Keflavik Iceland; 3rd Marine Logistics Group, Okinawa, Japan; Naval School of Health Sciences, Portsmouth, Virginia; Navy Medicine Training Support Command, San Antonio, Texas; 3rd Marine Division, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; Naval Dosimetry Center, Bethesda, Maryland; Command Senior Chief of Fort Jackson MEPS, Columbia, South Carolina. He currently serves as Command Master Chief of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 97 at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. His academic achievements include a Master’s in Adult Education & Training and a Bachelor’s in Health Care Management. He is a graduate of the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course and the United States Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Academy. 

Owens’ warfare qualifications and designations include Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist as well as a Master Training Specialist. His personal decorations include: Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Joint Service Achievement Medal (2 awards); Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 awards); Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (2 awards); 2011 Navy Medicine Support Command Senior Instructor of Year; 2020 USMEPCOM Senior Enlisted Advisor of Year; and numerous other unit and campaign awards.
