In 2000, he enlisted in the United States Navy and completed basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois. He then completed Aviation Electronic Technician “A” School in Pensacola, Florida. CMC Troutman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Bradman University. He is a graduate from the Senior Enlisted Academy and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course. At sea, CMC Troutman served aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67); USS George Washington (CVN 73); and USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), USS Savannah (LCS 28) and USS Omaha (LCS 12). Ashore, he served at the Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department Oceana; Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department Atsugi; Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Lemoore; and Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Headquarters in Pensacola, Florida. His current assignment is as Command Master Chief for Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 117 based at Point Mugu, CA. His decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), various unit, campaign and service awards.
