A native of Keller, Texas, Captain Adam “Pookie” Green graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2002 earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering. He received his pilot wings in April 2005 at NAS Kingsville, TX. Following fleet replacement training Captain Green joined the forward deployed “Gauntlets” of VAQ-136 at NAS Atsugi, Japan. There he participated in three 6-month deployments onboard the USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63) and USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) in support of several exercises. While a Gauntlet, he received the Noel Greene award in recognition for his leadership as a junior officer. In January 2009, Captain Green returned to VAQ-129 as an instructor in the EA-6B. As a Viking he was responsible for the carrier qualifications of 58 student pilots throughout 19 FRS CQ detachments, and transitioned three land-based Prowler squadrons to a carrier-deployed status.

In December 2011, Captain Green reported to be CAG Paddles of Commander, Carrier Air Wing NINE (CVW-9). There he participated in two combat deployments onboard the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) in support of 5th Fleet Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and NEW DAWN. Following his CAG Paddles tour, he fully transitioned to the EA-18G Growler before reporting to the “Wizards” of VAQ-133 as a Department Head. There he completed a deployment onboard the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) in support of 7th FLEET operations, serving as both Operations Officer and Maintenance Officer. Additionally, he received the Commander, Electronic Attack Wing Pacific (CVWP) 2016 Operational Excellence award. In December 2016, Captain Green reported to the Naval War College in Newport, RI, where he received a Masters of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies with highest distinction, and was named as the President’s Honor Graduate for his class. In April 2020, he assumed command of VAQ-139 and led the squadron through a 10.5 month combat deployment during the COVID pandemic onboard the USS NIMITZ (CVN-68). The Cougars supported 5th Fleet operations INHERENT RESOLVE and SENTINEL and earned the 2020 Battle “E”, Admiral Radford, CNAF Safety “S”, and Navy Unit Commendation awards. He personally received the 2020 CDR Robert “Detox” Eastman III leadership award. Following his command tour, Captain Green reported to OPNAV Special Programs in the Pentagon to serve as the TACAIR Requirements Officer August 2021 to August 2023. He next completed an Individual Augmentation deployment to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar serving as the Battle Director at the 609th Combined Air and Space Operations Center (CAOC) from September to December 2023.

Captain Green has accumulated over 3,000 total flight hours and 800 carrier arrested landings in the EA-6B, EA-18G and F/A-18E/F. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit, service and campaign awards. He is married to his beautiful wife Meredith since 2002 years and they have four amazing children Benjamin, Wesley, Henry, and Adeline.
