A native of Mystic, Connecticut, Commander Matthew Galamison graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2008, earning a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography. Upon commissioning, CDR Galamison reported to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, FL for Aviation Pre-flight Indoctrination in August 2008. He earned his Naval Flight Officer Wings in February of 2010. In April 2010, CDR Galamison reported to the “VIKINGS” of VAQ-129 at NAS Whidbey Island, WA to begin training as a replacement Electronic Countermeasures Officer (ECMO) in the EA-6B Prowler.
 
CDR Galamison began his operational flying in May 2011 with the “GRAY WOLVES” of VAQ-142. During his time with the GRAY WOLVES, he completed one 5th Fleet combat deployment aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
 
CDR Galamison returned to VAQ-129 in October 2014 to complete a transition syllabus to the EA-18G. Following his qualification in the EA-18G, CDR Galamison remained with the squadron as an Instructor Electronic Warfare Officer (IEWO).
 
In January 2018, CDR Galamison reported to Carrier Air Wing TWO (CVW-2) as the staff Electronic Warfare Officer. While with Team BROADSWORD, he participated in one 7th Fleet Western Pacific (WESTPAC) deployment and the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2018 exercise aboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70).
 
In December 2019, Commander Galamison reported to the “BLACK RAVENS of VAQ-135 as an operational Department Head. While there he served as the Safety, Admin, Maintenance, and Operations Officer, and participated in one 7th Fleet deployment with the BLACK RAVENS to Naval Air Facility Misawa, Japan.
 
Following his tour with the BLACK RAVENS, Commander Galamison reported for duty at the NAVAL WAR COLLEGE in Newport, RI where he earned his Masters of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies in March of 2022.
 
CDR Galamison has accumulated over 1,600 hours in the EA-18G and other aircraft. His military awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit and campaign awards and ribbons.
