A native of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Command Master Chief Ervin enlisted in the Navy on December 04, 2002. Ervin’s training and certification includes Surface Support Officer in Charge (SSOIC); Master Training Specialist; Command Senior Chief Program.  He attended the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 215 Blue) and the CMC/COB Capstone Course (Class 20110) in Newport, Rhode Island.  Ervin earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from University of Charleston.
 
Ervin reported to USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in July of 2003 after completion of his initial training as a Hull Maintenance Technician in Great Lakes, IL. In June of 2009, he reported to the USS Frank Cable (AS 40) in Guam. He reported to USS Essex (LHD 2) and was selected to Chief Petty Officer in July 2012, where he served as the Repair Division Leading Chief Petty Officer until July 2014.  He reported to Naval Special Warfare Group THREE Logistics and Support Unit October 2016, where he was advanced to Senior Chief in April of 2017. Upon selection to Command Senior Chief, Ervin reported as the Command Senior Chief on board USS GLADIATOR (MCM 11) homeported in Manama, Bahrain in October 2020.  In March of 2022, Ervin was selected to Command Master Chief and reported as Command Master Chief at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron FOUR SIX (HSM 46) at NAS JAX.  In September or 2023 he reported to his current assignment as Command Master Chief of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron THREE (VQ-3) in Tinker AFB, Oklahoma.
 
In 2006, he reported to his first shore duty assignment aboard TRIDENT Refit Facility, Bangor. From 2014 to 2016 he was assigned as the Maintenance Department Leading Chief and Assistant Quality Assurance Officer to the Assault Craft Unit Five (ACU 5) in Camp Pendleton, California. He reported to Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command in January 2020 as Repair Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and Director of HT A-School, HT C School and MR A School.
 
Command Master Chief Ervin is entitled to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare, Enlisted Aviation Warfare, Enlisted Information Warfare, Surface Support Officer in Charge specialist pin, Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (Five Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Six Awards), Battle E (Four Awards), and various campaign, service and unit awards.
