Commander Lovick is an Eagle Scout, a 2006 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and a 2019 graduate of Oklahoma State University. He has a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, a Master in Business Administration, and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.  He is a native of Kinston, North Carolina and is married to Mecca Lovick. 
 
CDR Lovick completed his junior officer tours with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadrons THREE
(VQ-3) and SEVEN (VQ-7) flying the E-6B Mercury. He served as Mission Commander Evaluator and Instructor Pilot flying 28 combat sorties in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
 
In 2012, he volunteered for a 14 month Individual Augmentee assignment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM with Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan (CJSOTF-A).
 
In 2013, he returned to VQ-7 serving as the Training Department Head.
 
In 2014, CDR Lovick reported to the USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) supporting combat operations in the Persian Gulf, the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) for RIMPAC 14 in the Pacific, and ultimately the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) to serve as the Assistant Navigator (ANAV) completing Sea Trials and a WESTPAC deployment.  He was selected as the Carrier Strike Group THREE Shiphandler of the Year.
 
In 2016, CDR Lovick reported to Strategic Communications Wing ONE as the Staff Plans Officer and Battlestaff Director.
In 2017, CDR Lovick returned to the “IRONMEN” of VQ-3 to serve as the Safety Officer, Administrative Officer, and Operations Officer.
In 2019, CDR Lovick reported to JFMCC-STRAT and CTF-114 in Norfolk, Virginia as the very first Naval Aviator assigned to COMSUBLANT to serve as the J33, J35, and J37. He ultimately served as the Deputy Director of Joint Operations (J30) for command, control, and joint coordination of maritime nuclear assets for global integration in the new era of strategic competition.
In 2020, CDR Lovick was selected for Operational Command of the “IRONMEN” of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron THREE. 
CDR Lovick has received various peer selected leadership awards, personal decorations, and campaign awards that are a testament to the teams he has had the honor to serve with ashore and in combat.  His personal awards include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (Strike/Flight), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
