A son of a Naval Officer, Commander Rogers was born in Belgium and moved frequently throughout his childhood before graduating High School in Yokosuka, Japan.  He attended Villanova University where he received his commission and bachelor’s degree in Finance in 2004.  Commander Rogers was designated a Naval Aviator in 2006 and was selected to join the first cadre of Fleet Replacement MH-60R Pilots at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron FOUR ONE (HSM-41) in San Diego, California.
 
Commander Rogers’ sea duty assignments began with the “Raptors” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN ONE (HSM-71) where he was a plankowner, and deployed aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74), USS ANTIETAM (CG 54), and USS KIDD (DDG 100) in support of SEVENTH Fleet operations. He was subsequently selected as the 2010 Squadron Pilot of the Year. In 2015, he reported to the “Wolfpack” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN FIVE (HSM-75) as a Department Head and led Detachment ONE aboard USS LASSEN (DDG 82) through a SEVENTH Fleet patrol and homeport shift back from being forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan.  He then assumed the Squadron Maintenance Officer role and was recognized as the 2016 Commander, Helicopter Maritime Strike Wing Pacific Officer of the Year.  In March 2020, he arrived to Atsugi Japan and reported as the Executive Officer and subsequently assumed command of the “Warlords” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron FIVE ONE (HSM-51) in May 2021.  He was selected by his peers as a 2021 Navy and Marine Association Leadership Award winner and was relieved in July 2022. 
 
Commander Rogers’ shore assignments include HSM-41 as a Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor Pilot and the MH-60R Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization Program Manager from 2010 to 2013.  Additionally, he served as Flag Aide to the “Airboss”, Commander, Naval Air Forces from 2013 to 2014.  Commander Rogers was assigned to Naval Personnel Command in Millington, Tennessee where he was the Helicopter Maritime Strike and Commander, Naval Air Forces Atlantic/Pacific Staff Placement Officer from July 2017 until March of 2019.  Most recently he was Head of Navy Programs in the Appropriations Matters Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Financial Management and Comptroller) (ASN (FM&C)) which serves as the Department of the Navy’s direct liaison with both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives Appropriations Committees. 
 
CDR Rogers assumed command of the HSM-41 Seahawks in April 2024 where he currently serves.  He earned his Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Naval Post Graduate School in August 2013.  He has accumulated over 2,400 Flight Hours in Naval aircraft and has been awarded multiple personal, unit and service awards.
