Senior Chief Petty Officer Philip Pussilano is a native of Bronx, New York. He graduated from Howell High School in 1993. He enlisted in the Navy in 2008 and attended Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois followed by Aviation Machinist Mate “A” school in Pensacola, Florida.

His previous assignments include Collateral Duty Inspector at Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light FOUR TWO (HSL-42) Mayport, Florida. Quality Assurance Representative at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN TWO (HSM-72) Plank owner, Jacksonville, Florida. Department Lead Petty Officer at Air Test and Evaluation Squadron ONE (VX-1), Patuxent River, Maryland. Detachment Chief at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron THREE FIVE (HSM-35). Department Lead Chief Petty Officer, Quality Assurance Supervisor, Maintenance Control Supervisor and currently the Senior Enlisted Leader at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron FOUR ONE, San Diego, California.

He has completed multiple significant shipboard deployments, including service aboard: USS Halyburton (FFG-40), He was part of a historic detachment that embarked with two MQ-8B Fire Scout unmanned aerial vehicles and one SH-60B Seahawk, supporting the first operational use of the Navy’s MQ-8B UAV in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet Areas of Responsibility.  USS James E. Williams (DDG-95), Supported maritime security and multi-national operations in dynamic operational theaters. USS Sterett (DDG-104), He deployed with the first Carrier Strike Group to operate under COVID-19 health protection protocols, a historic mission that marked the longest continuous Navy deployment (321 days) since the Vietnam War.
 
He is a qualified Aviation Warfare Specialist and has completed numerous leadership and technical training programs throughout his career. His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and multiple unit, campaign, and service awards.
