Command master Chief Karin R. Wittig is native of Fredrick, Maryland.  She enlisted in the Navy on August 14, 2000 as a Machinist’s Mate Nuclear.  Following completion of Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, she graduated top of her class in Nuclear Power Machinist’s Mate A-School and completed Nuclear Power School.  She then graduated second in her class from Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, New York and was selected for a tour of duty as Junior Staff Instructor. While serving at the Nuclear Power Training Unit, she advanced to the rank of First Class Petty Officer.
 
Following instructor duty, Karin reported to USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) in August 2005.  While assigned to Lincoln, she was advanced to Chief Petty Officer.  After pinning to Chief Petty Officer, Wittig transferred to USS Enterprise (CVN-65) in April 2011.  While there she took the ship on its final two deployments and served as part of the decommissioning crew.  In June 2014, she then returned to Navy Nuclear Power Training Command as both a Basic Machinery and Math instructor, achieving the rank of Senior Chief right as she was transferring.  She then reported to USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) in August 2017.  While there, she advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer.  In May 2021, she reported to Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit, Charleston, South Carolina where she was selected to Command Master Chief in 2023. 
 
CMDCM Wittig reported to the Knighthawks of Strike Fighter Squadron ONE THREE SIX (VFA-136) in May 2023.
 
Command Master Chief Wittig’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and numerous unit and campaign awards.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from New School University, is a Master Training Specialist, and is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy and the Command Master Chief Course.
