CDR Jared ‘Pops’ Shullick is a native of Lorain, Ohio. He attended the United States Naval Academy as a member of the class of 2008 majoring in Ocean Engineering.  He attended flight school in Pensacola, FL, Vance AFB OK, and earned his wings at NAS Meridian MS.  After completion of initial F/A-18 E/F training at VFA-106, he was assigned to the Knighthawks of VFA-136.  During his tour, he flew Close Air Support missions supporting operations ENDURING FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE over Afghanistan and Iraq.

After VFA-136 LT Shullick transferred to VX-9 in China Lake, CA as an operational test project officer.  While with the Vampires, he was selected to attend USAF Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB, CA. As a student Test Pilot, he flew over 100 hours in 27 different types of aircraft notably the F-16, F-15, HU-16, Mirage 2000N, and the A-10.  He completed a capstone test project with four other students testing a Short Wave Infra-Red SNIPER pod through a novel flight test technique by flying an F-16 alongside a C-12J to conduct Modulation Transfer Function Analysis of simultaneous test imagery.  While there he earned a Masters of Science in Flight Test Engineering from United States Air Force Air University.  

LT Shullick then transferred to the Dust Devils of VX-31 in China Lake, CA.  As a developmental test pilot, he conducted test flights for F/A-18 E/F and EA-18G software, radar, and weapon systems.  As the F/A-18 Electronic Warfare and Defensive Countermeasures subject matter expert, he managed advanced software and hardware improvements for the future survivability of the Super Hornet. 

After his time in the test community, LCDR Shullick returned to the fleet in the Eagles of VFA-115 stationed in Iwakuni, Japan.  While there, he served as Administrative, Safety, Maintenance, and Operations department head.  He executed 3 deployments in the Indo-Pacific region conducting dynamic flight operations, multinational exercises, and Joint War-at-Sea exercises.  While there, his Strike Group was called upon to shift to the CENTCOM AOR to conduct missions over Afghanistan during Operation FREEDOM SENTINEL.

CDR Shullick then served at the United States Indo-Pacific Command as a strategic effects and requirements officer in the Requirements and Resources division (J8) stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI.  He influenced the Future Years Defense Program budget and managed Joint Emergent Operational Needs for the CCMD.

He is married to the beautiful and intelligent Jaime Shullick and has two daughters, Sloane and Quinn.
