He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2008 with a degree in Ocean Engineering. After completing flight school, he earned his wings at Naval Air Station (NAS) Meridian, Mississippi. Following initial training on the F/A-18 E/F, he was assigned to the Knighthawks of VFA-136. During this tour, he flew Close Air Support missions in Afghanistan and Iraq, supporting Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE. Commander Shullick then transferred to the Vampires of VX-9 in China Lake, California, as an operational test project officer. He was selected to attend the prestigious U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base. As a student, he logged over 100 hours in 27 different types of aircraft. For his capstone project, he led a team of students using a novel test technique to evaluate an experimental Short Wave Infra-Red SNIPER pod. He earned a Master of Science in Flight Test Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Air University. Next, Commander Shullick served as a developmental test pilot with the Dust Devils of VX-31 in China Lake, where he tested software, radar, and weapon systems for the F/A-18 E/F and EA-18G. As the squadron's subject matter expert on F/A-18E/F Electronic Warfare and Defensive Countermeasures, he managed critical hardware and software improvements to enhance the survivability of the Super Hornet. After his time in the test community, Commander Shullick returned to the fleet with the Eagles of VFA-115 in Iwakuni, Japan. He served as a department head for Administration, Safety, Maintenance, and Operations. He completed three deployments across the Indo-Pacific region, participating in dynamic flight operations, multinational exercises, and Joint War-at-Sea exercises. His Strike Group was called upon to shift to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility to conduct missions over Afghanistan for Operation FREEDOM SENTINEL. Following this tour, Commander Shullick was assigned to U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. As a strategic effects and requirements officer in the Requirements and Resources division (J8), he helped manage the budget for the Future Years Defense Program, the Special Access Program portfolio, and Joint Emergent Operational Needs for the Combatant Command (CCMD). Commander Shullick returned to the Knighthawks of VFA-136 as Executive Officer in June 2024. He is married to his wife, Jaime, and they have two daughters, Sloane and Quinn.
