Captain Jonathan G. Voorheis Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 10 A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, CAPT Jon Voorheis received his commission to the United States Navy through the Officer Candidate School in July, 1996. He is a 2007 graduate of the Naval War College, earning a Master of Science in Strategic Studies and his Joint Professional Military Education-PHASE I. His operational assignments include service with the “Maulers” of Sea Control Squadron THREE TWO (VS-32), where he deployed onboard USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV-67); the “War Eagles” of Patrol Squadron ONE SIX (VP-16), where he completed detachments to El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Iceland and Italy; USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69), where he served as a Catapult & Arresting Gear Officer; Department Head with the “Old Buzzards” of Special Projects Patrol Squadron ONE (VPU-1); and Executive and Commanding Officer of the “Screaming Eagles” of Patrol Squadron ONE (VP-1), winning the Battle “E” and Safety “S”. His shore assignments include Operations and Plans Officer for Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing ELEVEN (CPRW-11); Joint Operations Center Watch Officer and Current Operations Air Cell Chief at U.S. Africa Command; and Chief Staff Officer and Operations Officer for Commander, Task Force 72 In 2019, CAPT Voorheis completed an airframe transition to the P-8 Poseidon and reported to Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing TEN, Whidbey Island, WA as Deputy Commodore. In March 2021, CAPT Voorheis took over as Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing TEN / Commander, Task Force 32. His decorations are a reflection of the impressive men and women he has served with and include the Meritorious Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Air Medal (2), Navy Commendation Medal (3), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2), as well as a Joint Meritorious Unit Award.
